브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대표의 목을 흉기로 찌른 혐의로 재판에 넘겨진 김모(68)씨가 대법원에서 징역 15년이 확정됐다.
13일 법조계에 따르면 대법원 2부(주심 오경미 대법관)는 이날 살인미수 및 공직선거법 위반 혐의로 기소된 김씨의 상고심에서 징역 15년을 선고하고 보호관찰 5년을 명령한 원심을 확정했다.
대법원은 "피고인의 연령·성행·환경, 이 사건 각 범행의 동기·수단과 결과, 범행 후의 정황 등 기록에 나타난 양형의 조건이 되는 여러 가지 사정들을 살펴보면 원심이 피고인에 대하여 징역 15년을 선고한 제1심 판결을 유지한 것이 심히 부당하다고 할 수 없다"고 판시했다.
김씨는 2024년 1월 2일 오전 10시29분경 부산 강서구 가덕도 신공항 부지를 둘러보던 이재명 대표에게 다가가 흉기로 목을 찌른 혐의로 구속 기소됐다.
경찰은 김씨를 현장에서 체포하고, 지난해 1월 10일 검찰에 구속 송치했다.
경찰 조사에 따르면 김씨는 범행을 위해 인터넷에서 등산용 칼을 구입한 뒤 손잡이를 빼내고 테이프로 감싸는 등 흉기를 변형시켰다. 흉기의 길이는 날 13㎝를 포함해 총 18㎝이며 범행 당시 A4용지로 흉기를 가린 뒤 지지자인 것 처럼 이 대표에게 접근했다.
이재명 대표는 현장에서 피를 흘린 채 쓰러져 20여분 동안 응급처치를 받고 부산대병원으로 옮겨졌고, 헬기를 통해 서울대병원으로 이동해 내경정맥 봉합 수술과 입원 치료를 받았다.
