브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 넥슨은 롯데월드와 손잡고 서울 송파구 잠실 롯데월드 어드벤처에 ‘메이플스토리’ IP를 활용한 대규모 테마존 ‘메이플 아일랜드(Maple Island)’를 2026년 상반기 중 오픈한다고 14일 밝혔다.
‘메이플 아일랜드’는 잠실 롯데월드 어드벤처의 야외 구역인 ‘매직아일랜드’ 내 약 600평 규모 공간을 ‘메이플스토리’ IP로 리노베이션해 조성된다.
‘현실이 되는 메이플스토리’라는 캐치프레이즈 아래 폭넓은 연령층이 즐길 수 있는 롤러코스터 1종, 패밀리 어트랙션 2종 등 3종의 어트랙션과, ‘메이플스토리’ 조형물, 굿즈, 먹거리, 체험 공간 등 다양한 즐길 거리가 마련된다.
이로써 넥슨은 가상 공간을 넘어 현실에서도 ‘메이플스토리’를 만끽할 수 있도록 한다는 계획이다. 올해 22주년을 맞는 ‘메이플스토리’를 테마파크라는 현실 공간으로 확장해 오랜 게이머에게는 익숙하면서도 신선한 경험을 제공하고, ‘메이플스토리’를 처음 접하는 방문객에게는 ‘메이플 아일랜드’를 통해 ‘메이플스토리’의 세계로 자연스럽게 이끌 예정이다.
