당진 기지시줄다리기가 유네스코 인류무형문화유산 등재 10주년을 맞아 지역 대표 축제로서의 우수성을 인정받기 위해 전국 홍보에 나섰다.
당진시(시장 오성환)는 기지시줄다리기가 지난 20일부터 21일까지 경주 화백컨벤션센터에서 열린 ‘아시아 축제 전시회’에 참가했다고 24일 밝혔다.
이번 전시회는 세계축제협회(IFEA) 아시아지부와 경주화백컨벤션뷰로가 공동 주관한 ‘2025 피나클 어워즈 및 아시아 축제 도시 컨퍼런스’의 일환으로, 국내외 축제 관련 기관과 도시가 참여하는 축제 박람회다.
행사에는 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의에 참석한 세계적인 축제 전문가들이 모여 축제 경쟁력 제고와 우수축제 사례를 공유하는 자리가 마련됐다.
특히, 기지시줄다리기는 한국의 대표적 참여형 축제로 주목받으며, 홍보 부스에서 방문객을 대상으로 소형 줄 체험 및 기념품 이벤트를 진행해 이목을 집중시켰다.
당진시 공영식 문화체육과장은 “전 세계 축제 전문가가 함께한 전시회에 유네스코 인류무형문화유산 등재 10주년 기지시줄다리기를 홍보한 것은 큰 성과”라며 “향후 글로벌 축제로 한 단계 나아가는 계기가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
한편, 2025년 기지시줄다리기 축제는 줄다리기 유네스코 등재 10주년을 기념해 오는 4월 10일부터 13일까지 당진시 송악읍 기지시줄다리기박물관 일원에서 다양한 행사가 열릴 예정이다.
제례 행사, 등재 10주년 기념식, 주제공연, 국내 유네스코 등재 종목 민속 줄다리기 시연 등이 포함된 다채로운 프로그램이 마련되어 많은 이들의 참여를 기대하고 있다.
