빙그레 김호연 회장과 배우자인 김미 백범김구기념관장이 사회복지 사각지대에 놓인 이웃들을 위한 따뜻한 나눔을 실천하며 '레드크로스 아너스클럽(Red Cross Honors Club)'에 나란히 가입했다. 지난 9일, 대한적십자사 서울사무소에서 진행된 가입식은 훈훈한 감동을 선사하며 노블레스 오블리주의 귀감이 되었다.
지난해 12월, 김호연 회장 부부는 어려운 이웃들에게 힘이 되고자 대한적십자사에 각각 1억 원씩 총 2억 원을 쾌척하며 아너스클럽의 284번째, 285번째 회원으로 이름을 올렸다. 특히 이들은 부부가 동시에 아너스클럽에 가입한 21번째 사례로 기록되며 더욱 의미를 더했다.
이날 가입식에서 대한적십자사 김철수 회장은 김호연 회장 부부에게 아너스클럽 가입을 기념하는 패와 함께 적십자 활동 재원 조성과 인도주의 정신 확산에 크게 기여한 공로를 인정하여 '적십자 회원유공장 명예대장' 표창을 수여했다.
'레드크로스 아너스클럽'은 1억 원 이상을 대한적십자사에 기부한 개인 고액 기부자들의 모임으로, 사회 곳곳에 따뜻한 온정을 전하는 데 앞장서고 있다.
한편, 이날 가입식과 더불어 빙그레의 인도주의 활동 후원 성금 전달식도 진행되어 더욱 뜻깊은 자리가 되었다. 빙그레는 이번에 대한적십자사에 총 3억 원의 후원금을 전달했으며, 이 성금은 재난 취약 계층 지원 사업과 미래세대 육성을 위한 RCY(청소년적십자) 지원 사업 등 다양한 인도주의 활동에 소중하게 사용될 예정이다.
빙그레는 이미 2013년 위기가정 긴급 지원을 위한 대한적십자사 희망풍차 사업에 기부를 시작한 이래 꾸준히 다양한 인도주의 사업을 후원해왔다. 이러한 지속적인 나눔 활동을 통해 2023년에는 누적 기부금액이 10억 원을 넘어서며 법인 고액 기부 모임인 '레드크로스 아너스기업 10억 클럽'에 가입하는 쾌거를 이루기도 했다.
뿐만 아니라, 빙그레는 사회적 책임을 다하는 기업으로서 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 펼치고 있다. 지난 3월에는 산불 특별재난지역으로 선포된 경북·경남·울산 지역의 피해 복구 지원을 위해 이재민과 산불 진화 작업에 투입된 소방대원들에게 5만여 개의 음료 제품과 도시락 등 따뜻한 식사를 지원하며 지역 사회에 힘을 보탰다.
김호연 회장의 사회공헌에 대한 깊은 관심과 애정을 바탕으로 빙그레는 '빙그레 어린이 그림잔치'를 통해 어린이들이 독립운동의 의미를 되새기는 기회를 제공하고, 빙그레공익재단을 통해 독립유공자와 국가유공자 후손에게 장학금을 지원하는 등 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 꾸준히 이어가고 있다. 또한, 올해는 '빙그레 그란폰도' 자전거 대회를 개최하여 참가비 전액을 지역 사회에 기부하는 새로운 형태의 나눔을 실천하며 사회적 가치 창출에 앞장서고 있다.

Binggrae Chairman Kim Ho-yeon and his wife, Kim Mi, Director of the Kim Koo Memorial Museum, have demonstrated exemplary philanthropy by simultaneously joining the 'Red Cross Honors Club' to support vulnerable families in welfare blind spots. The induction ceremony, held on the afternoon of the 9th at the Korea National Red Cross Seoul Office, conveyed a heartwarming message and set a noble precedent.
In December of last year, Chairman Kim Ho-yeon and Director Kim Mi each donated 100 million KRW to the Korea National Red Cross, totaling 200 million KRW, to aid underprivileged families in urgent need, thus becoming the 284th and 285th members of the Honors Club. Notably, they became the 21st couple to join the Honors Club simultaneously, adding further significance to their contribution.
At the induction ceremony, Korea National Red Cross President Kim Chul-soo presented Chairman Kim Ho-yeon and Director Kim Mi with plaques commemorating their Honors Club membership, along with the 'Honorary Grand Patron of Red Cross Membership' award in recognition of their significant contribution to raising funds for Red Cross activities and spreading the spirit of humanity.
The 'Red Cross Honors Club' is a group of individual high-value donors who have contributed 100 million KRW or more to the Korea National Red Cross, playing a leading role in spreading warmth and care throughout society.
Meanwhile, a donation ceremony for Binggrae's humanitarian activities was held alongside the induction ceremony, making the occasion even more meaningful. Binggrae donated a total of 300 million KRW to the Korea National Red Cross, and these funds will be valuable in supporting various humanitarian activities, including disaster-vulnerable community support projects and RCY (Red Cross Youth) support projects for nurturing future generations.
Binggrae has consistently supported various humanitarian projects since its first donation to the Korea National Red Cross Hope Windmill Project for emergency support of vulnerable families in 2013. Through these continuous sharing activities, Binggrae achieved the remarkable feat of joining the 'Red Cross Honors Corporate 1 Billion Won Club' in 2023, surpassing 1 billion KRW in cumulative donations.
Furthermore, as a company fulfilling its social responsibilities, Binggrae engages in various social contribution activities. In March, Binggrae provided approximately 50,000 beverage products and warm meals, including lunch boxes, to victims and firefighters deployed to the wildfire-stricken areas of Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan, which were declared special disaster zones, lending a helping hand to the local community.
Based on Chairman Kim Ho-yeon's deep interest and affection for social contribution, Binggrae continues to carry out various social contribution activities. Through the 'Binggrae Children's Drawing Contest', which marked its 37th anniversary last year, Binggrae provided children with an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the independence movement. Additionally, the Binggrae Public Foundation, established with Binggrae's endowment in February 2011, has been providing scholarships to the descendants of independence activists and national merit recipients since 2018 through a business agreement with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the National Police Agency. This year, Binggrae also held the 'Binggrae Granfondo' cycling event in Gongju, a non-competitive long-distance race centered on 'funation' (fun + donation) and regional revitalization, donating the entire participation fee under each individual participant's name to meaningful activities within the host region, taking the lead in creating social value.
