남양주시의회, 연구용역 착수보고회 개최

(남양주=브레이크뉴스 경기동북부)하인규 기자=남양주시의회(의장 조성대)는 지난 9일 남양주시의회 소회의실에서 ‘남양주시 스포츠 경쟁력 강화와 스포츠 브랜드 도시 발전방안’의 연구용역 착수보고회를 개최했다.

이번 연구용역은 남양주시 스포츠 및 체육 관련 현황 분석과 더불어 스포츠 시설 및 인프라 구축의 부족한 부분을 파악하고, 타 지자체의 성공적인 모델 분석을 통해 남양주시가 스포츠 브랜드 도시로서 도약할 방안과 비전을 제시하고자 실시됐다.

이날 착수보고회는 대표의원인 정현미 의원을 비롯한 연구단체 소속 의원들과 용역 수행사 연구원 등이 참석한 가운데 진행됐으며, △국내 종합 스포츠타운 현황 조사 △남양주시 스포츠 시설 및 클럽 실태 조사 △전문가 의견 수렴 △국내․외 종합스포츠타운 우수 사례 분석 등 앞으로의 연구 내용과 방향에 대한 논의가 이뤄졌다.

착수보고회에 참석한 의원들은 남양주시에 장애인과 청소년들을 위한 전문적인 체육시설이 존재하지 않는다는 점에 안타까움을 표하며, “이번 연구용역에 장애인들과 우리시의 미래인 청소년들이 마음껏 스포츠 활동을 즐길 수 있는 전용 체육시설 건립에 대해 검토해 줄 것”을 요청했다.

또한 “남양주시의 강점과 약점을 정확히 분석한 뒤 타시군과 차별화된 남양주시만의 강점을 적극 활용한 국제 스포츠 대회 유치 방안을 모색하고, 스포츠 종목별로 편차가 큰 관내 시설 및 인프라 등의 불균형을 맞출 수 있는 방안을 제안해주시면 좋을 것 같다”는 의견을 제시했다.

정현미 의원은 “오늘 착수보고회를 시작으로 5개월의 과업 기간동안 남양주시에 국제대회를 유치할 수 있는 종합 스포츠파크의 기반을 조성하고, 효율적 관리체계 방안을 마련할 수 있는 성공적인 연구용역이 달성될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편,‘남양주시 스포츠 경쟁력 강화와 스포츠 브랜드 도시 발전방안 연구모임’은 정현미 의원(대표), 김영실 의원, 박은경 의원, 한송연 의원, 김상수 의원, 손정자 의원 등 6명의 의원으로 구성되었으며, 이번 착수보고회를 시작으로 오는 10월까지 약 5개월간 본격적인 연구활동을 이어 나갈 예정이다.
