인천시에 따르면, ‘천원주택’은 하루 1,000원, 월 3만 원의 저렴한 임대료로 신혼부부 등에게 안정적인 주거환경을 제공하는 인천형 주거정책이다.
정책 발표 초기부터 실질적인 주거비 부담 완화 대책으로 주목을 받았으며, 지난 3월에는 ‘천원주택(매입임대주택)’ 예비입주자 모집을 성공적으로 마친 바 있다.
