이재명 대통령은 4일 오후 용산 대통령실에서 국가 주요인사를 발표한 가운데 이종석 전 장관을 초대 국정원장에 지명했다.
안보실장에 지명된 위성락 의원은 주미 대사관 정무공사, 외교부 한반도평화교섭본부장, 주러시아 대사를 지낸 인사로 이재명 대통령의 외교·안보 공약 설계자로서 ‘주변 4강’ 외교 방향성을 설정하는 '외교·안보책사' 역할을 했다.
