[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군 특산품인 쌍책멜론 첫 출하식이 4일 김윤철 군수를 비롯 정봉훈 군의장 및 군의원, 쌍책우체국장, 합천동부농협 쌍책지점장, 쌍책멜론작목반 회원 등 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 열렸다.
이날 출하식과 함께 쌍책멜론작목반(회장 이충언)은 지역 농업 발전을 위해 농축산물가격안정기금 200만원을 기탁했다.
이는 네번째 기탁으로 쌍책멜론 출하식에 의미를 더했다.
쌍책멜론은 24농가 10ha(시설하우스128동)에서 재배되고 있으며, 국내에서 유일하게 소피아그린이라는 품종을 재배하고 있다.
17브릭스(brix)이상 당도와 부드러운 식감으로 소비자들에게 꾸준히 사랑받고 있으며, 금년에는 300톤 이상 생산량이 나올것으로 기대되고 있다.
이날 첫 출하를 시작으로 6월 중순부터 본격 출하되며, 농가별로 개별 주문을 받아 우체국 택배를 통해 직거래로만 유통된다.
합천군 관계자는 “쌍책멜론은 황강변 사질토양에 농가들의 정성이 더해져 당도가 높고 식감이 좋기로 유명하다. 지속적인 품질 관리 및 지원으로 쌍책멜론 경쟁력을 높이는데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
