(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천연구원이 오는 6월 14일과 15일, 국가유산청과 인천 중구청이 주최하고 인천관광공사가 주관하는 ‘2025 인천 개항장 국가유산 야행’과 연계해 거리극 뮤지컬 ‘우전인의 편지, 개항장을 걷다’를 개항장 일대에서 초연한다고 밝혔다.
인천연구원에 따르면, 이번 공연은 인천연구원이 추진한 ‘역사문화자산 가치화 사업’ 1단계의 성과물인 초단편 에세이 ‘나는 개항장의 우전인입니다’를 원작으로 기획됐다.
개항기 인천을 무대로 편지를 전달하는 인물의 여정을 따라가며 극이 전개된다.
공연은 개항장 사거리를 출발점으로, 구 제58일본은행, 구 제1일본은행, 대불호텔 전시장 등 개항장의 주요 장소를 이동하며 진행된다.
관객은 배우들과 함께 장소를 옮기며 마치 개항기 당시 인천의 거리를 걷는 듯한 몰입감을 경험할 수 있다.
이 작품은 지역 극단 ‘열정’(연출 염영호)이 제작을 맡았으며, 연극·음악극·예술교육 분야에서 활동해 온 역량을 바탕으로 지역문화 기반 창작의 가능성을 보여줄 예정이다.
이번 공연은 지역 역사문화자산을 공연예술 콘텐츠로 활용한 사례로, 역사문화유산의 가치를 널리 알릴 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
상반기 관객 반응을 바탕으로 9월 20~21일 열리는 하반기 국가유산 야행에서도 재공연 될 예정이다.
