(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 남동구가 10일, 만성적인 주차난 해소를 위해 차별화된 방식을 통해 공영 주차 공간 확보의 가능성을 제시하고 있다고 밝혔다.
남동구에 따르면 지난 2022년부터 작년까지 8개소의 공영주차장을 조성했으며, 올해부터 내년 6월까지 11개소를 추가 조성할 예정이다.
님동구는 2022년 간석동 577-2번지 공영주차장을 시작으로, 2023년 만월1호 공영주차장과 소래논현지구 주1 공영주차장을 조성했다.
2024년에는 소래제5호 공영주차장, 인수마을1호 공영주차장, 인수마을 2호·6호 공영주차장, 간석자유시장 공영주차장, 남동국가산단 내 주차장이 준공됐다.
앞서 남동구는 공영 주차 공간 확보의 공간적·비용적 어려움을 해결하기 위해 유휴부지를 활용하는 데 주안점을 뒀다.
특히, 남동구는 남동국가산단 주차난 해결을 위해 인천시와 협의해 이용도가 낮은 공원 내 유휴부지를 주차장으로 변경, 2024년 염골근린공원과 유수지근린공원, 복지근린공원 등 3개소에 총 139면의 노외주차장을 조성했다.
이어 2018년 조성 당시 101면 규모였던 논현동 소래제5호 공영주차장 역시 우수저류시설 및 오수관로 정비사업 완료 후 남동구가 해당 유휴부지 활용을 통해 2024년 50면을 추가 조성했다.
또한, 원도심 주택가의 야간 주차난 해소를 위해 민간 시설의 부설주차장 개방을 적극 추진해 왔다.
지난 2024년 신명여고(14면)를 비롯해 장승백이상가, 남동새마을금고, 만수중앙감리교회, 낙원제일교회 등 총 9개의 부설주차장이 개방돼 149면의 주차 공간을 추가 확보했다.
이는 토지 매입과 건축물 조성에 막대한 예산과 시간이 소요되는 원도심의 특성을 고려해 학교나 종교시설 등과 적극적인 협의를 한 결과이다.
이 밖에도 구는 부설주차장 보조금 지원사업을 추진해 ‘그린파킹 사업’으로 총 24개소(32면)를 단독·공동주택에 제공했고, 아파트 유휴공간을 활용한 ‘아파트 부설주차장 설치 지원사업’으로 3개 단지 총 42면을 추가 확보했다.
남동구는 앞으로도 다각적인 노력을 통해 주민 편의를 위한 공영 주차 공간 확보에 주력해 나갈 예정이다.
현재 준공 예정된 공영주차장은 인수마을 3·4·5호, 진주4호, 남동근린공원, 구월근린공원, 간석3동 등 5개소(올해 하반기 내)와 구월동 1259-18, 구월동 1261-12, 만수동 915-2, 간석동 165-6, 수현로, 인천애뜰 공영주차장 등 6개소(내년 6월까지)이다.
