네타냐후는 친영국, 친미국 인사로 당시 총리였던 이츠하크 라빈(Yitzhak Rabin, 1922~1995)의 정적이었다. 이츠하크 라빈이 꾸준히 살아있었다면 하마스와 이스라엘의 이러한 피비린내가 진동한 역사는 종식되고 양쪽이 모두 평화롭게 존속했을 것이다. 네타냐후의 이력을 보자면 그는 출생은 텔아비브에서 했지만 부친이 폴란드계 아슈케나지였다. 그의 부친인 벤치욘 네타냐후(Benzion Netanyahu)는 폴란드 바르샤바 출생이다.
