매년 여름 열리는 영덕 복숭아 장터는 산지에서 생산된 제철 복숭아를 소비자에게 저렴하게 제공해 피서철 관광객들에게 큰 호응을 얻고 있다. 특히 영덕군은 올해 3월 말 발생한 초대형 산불로 농작물 피해가 컸던 만큼, 지역의 어려운 상황을 극복하고 새로운 희망을 전하기 위해 이번 장터에 심혈을 기울이고 있다.
올해 복숭아 장터는 영덕읍(남산1리 마을회관 앞)과 영해면(영해휴게소 야외 판매장) 두 곳에서 열린다. 참여를 희망하는 농가는 오는 27일까지 영덕군 농촌지원과(☎730-6273)로 신청하면 된다.
신청 대상은 영덕군에 주소지를 두고 복숭아 3,000㎡ 이상 농업경영체를 등록한 농업인이며, 자세한 사항은 영덕군 홈페이지 고시·공고란에서 확인할 수 있다.
김광열 영덕군수는 "산불 피해로 어려움을 겪는 농가들에게 이번 복숭아 장터가 다시 일어설 수 있는 계기가 되길 바란다"며, "많은 관광객과 군민들이 참여해 지역 농산물의 가치를 함께 나눠주시길 기대한다"고 전했다.
