23일 캐나다 산림투자혁신기관(BCFII)과 캐나다우드그룹 관계자 5명이 진주시를 방문해 지역 내 목조건축물을 시찰하고 향후 협력 방안을 논의했다.
이번 방문은 일본에 이어 두 번째 해외 방문단으로, 진주시 목조건축 기술에 대한 국제적 관심을 보여준다.
방문단은 ‘지수남명진취가’와 ‘문산읍 주민자치 어울마당’ 등 대표적인 친환경 목조건축물을 둘러봤으며, 두 건축물은 캐나다우드의 목재와 시공 기술로 완성됐다.
이후 방문단은 진주성, 진양호우드랜드 등도 함께 방문하며 진주의 역사와 친환경 도시로서의 매력을 체험했다.
차석호 진주시 부시장은 “이번 방문을 계기로 기술 교류와 인력 양성 등 실질적 협력을 강화해 진주시를 국제적인 친환경 목조건축 중심지로 키우겠다”고 말했다.
