충남도립대 작업치료학과, 공공어린이재활병원 견학

충남도립대학교 작업치료학과 학생들이 최근 대전·세종·충남권역 공공어린이재활병원을 찾아 임상 현장을 직접 체험하는 시간을 가졌다. 

이번 병원 견학은 단순한 교육을 넘어, 소아 중심의 전문 재활치료가 실제로 어떻게 이뤄지는지를 몸소 느끼는 기회가 됐다.

국내 최초의 공공 어린이 재활 전문기관으로 주목받고 있는 해당 병원은 넥슨재단의 후원을 바탕으로 설립된 민관협력 모델이다. 중증장애 아동을 위한 통합 재활치료와 가족지원 서비스를 동시에 제공하며, 지역사회 공공의료의 사각지대를 메우고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다.

학생들은 병원 관계자의 안내에 따라 '소아 작업치료실, 감각통합치료실, 일상생활동작훈련실, 놀이치료실 및 심리상담센터' 등을 차례로 둘러봤다. 각 공간에서는 치료 장비와 프로그램에 대한 상세한 설명이 이어졌고, 실제 치료 장면을 가까이에서 관찰할 수 있는 시간도 주어졌다.

특히 작업치료사, 물리치료사, 언어치료사 간 협력 체계를 직접 눈으로 확인하며, 다학제적 접근 방식의 중요성을 실감했다는 반응이 많았다. 현장에서의 통합적 치료과정을 통해, 이론과 실무 사이의 간극을 좁히는 계기가 됐다는 평가다.

한 참여 학생은 “학교 수업에서 배웠던 내용들이 어떻게 실제 환자 치료에 연결되는지를 명확히 이해할 수 있었다”며 “작업치료사로서 장애 아동의 삶에 실질적인 변화를 이끌어낼 수 있다는 점에 더욱 책임감을 느끼게 됐다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

이민재 충남도립대 작업치료학과장은 “이번 병원 견학 외에도 다양한 임상실습, 전문가 초청 특강, 국가자격증 취득 연계 프로그램 등을 운영하고 있다"면서, “이를 통해 전공 기반의 실무형 전문 인재 양성에 힘쓰고 있으며, 지역 보건의료기관과의 지속적인 협력을 통해 학생들의 진로역량 강화에 주력하겠다”고 말했다.

충남도립대학교는 이번 현장 체험을 계기로 실무 중심 교육 강화에 박차를 가하고 있으며, 앞으로도 공공의료 현장과 연계한 교육 프로그램을 지속 확대해 나간다는 계획이다.

Chungnam National University Occupational Therapy Department students recently visited the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Public Children's Rehabilitation Hospital and had a chance to experience the clinical field firsthand.

This hospital tour was more than just a simple education, but an opportunity to personally experience how specialized pediatric rehabilitation treatment is actually carried out.

The hospital, which is drawing attention as the first public children's rehabilitation institution in Korea, is a public-private partnership model established with the support of the Nexon Foundation. It provides integrated rehabilitation treatment and family support services for children with severe disabilities, and is evaluated as filling the blind spot of public medical care in the local community.

The students toured the 'pediatric occupational therapy room, sensory integration therapy room, daily living movement training room, play therapy room, and psychological counseling center' in order under the guidance of hospital staff.
