(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부천시가 지난 26일 카이스트, 부천도시공사와 함께 ‘부천시 교통데이터 활용 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
부천시에 따르면, 이번 협약은 부천시 전역에서 실시간으로 수집되는 교통정보를 활용해 ‘인공지능(AI) 모빌리티 모델도시’로 성장하기 위한 협력 내용을 담고 있다.
또, 부천시 전역 286개 교차로, 1,453개 CCTV에서 실시간으로 수집되는 교통정보를 국내외 공공·학술·연구기관에 개방하고, 이를 도시 교통문제 해결을 위한 실증 연구에 활용할 수 있도록 협력하는 내용도 담고 있다.
부천시 개방 교통정보를 활용하는 국내외 기관은 부천시 정보 활용 및 인용 사항을 연구성과물에 반드시 반영해야 하며, 성과물은 사전 협의를 거쳐 부천시와 공유해야 한다.
여화수 카이스트 교수는 “부천시가 공개하는 교통정보는 도시 단위로는 세계 최대규모로써 국내외 교통연구 발전에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라며 “부천시와 카이스트가 지속적인 협력을 통해 세계적인 인공지능 모빌리티 모델 도시를 함께 만들어 나가길 바란다”고 전했다.
조용익 부천시장은 “이번 업무협약을 시작으로 부천시 교통데이터를 국내외 기관에 개방해 부천시의 교통정책을 널리 알리겠다”며 “새 정부의 인공지능 육성 정책에 발맞춰 부천시도 인공지능(AI) 모빌리티 모델도시로서의 경쟁력을 한층 높이겠다”고 말했다.
