[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 독일 도르트문트시와 문화예술 및 청소년 교류를 본격화하며 유럽 도시와의 국제 민간 협력에 행정력을 집중하고 있다.
조규일 진주시장은 지난 26~27일(현지시간) 도르트문트를 공식 방문해 도르트문트시 및 문화예술단체와 교류 협력 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다.
진주시는 도르트문트시, 도르트문트 합창연합회, NRW 주 성악 아카데미 등 4개 기관은 국제 문화 교류, 청소년 문화 교육, 공연 기반 문화 플랫폼 구축 등에 협력키로 합의했다.
이번 협약식에는 양 도시 관계자 40여 명이 참석, 행사 전 도르트문트 청소년합창단은 진주 출신 정나래 지휘자의 지휘 아래 ‘아리랑’을 합창하며 진주시 대표단을 환영했다.
조 시장은 “이번 협약을 계기로 민간 공연, 청소년 홈스테이 등 실질적인 교류가 활발히 이어지길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
이에 브룬징 도르트문트 부시장도 “진주시 방문을 고대하며 문화 협력이 지속되길 바란다”고 전했다.
도르트문트 합창연합회는 NRW 주 산하 최대 규모의 합창조직으로, 90여 개 합창단과 2400여명의 단원이 활동 중이다.
진주시 대표단은 이와 함께 독일 분데스리가 명문 구단 레버쿠젠의 홈구장 ‘바이아레나’를 방문해, 청소년 체육 교류 확대를 위한 논의도 이어갔다.
조규일 진주시장은 “레버쿠젠의 청소년 육성 시스템은 진주시 체육 정책에 큰 참고가 된다”며 향후 실질적 교류를 위한 협조를 요청했다.
또 대표단은 도르트문트 콘서트하우스를 찾아, 진주시가 추진 중인 남강변 다목적 문화센터 건립에 필요한 시설 및 운영 사례를 벤치마킹했다.
이번 방문을 환영하며 임상범 주독일 대한민국 대사는 “양 도시 간 문화·스포츠 교류가 지속될 수 있도록 외교적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 말했다.
한편 오는 10월 도르트문트 청소년합창단과 예술단이 진주를 방문해 공연을 진행하며, 양 도시 간 문화교류의 본격적인 첫발을 내디딜 예정이다.
