[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 ‘2026년 제48차 유네스코 세계유산위원회’ 국내 개최 후보도시로 최종 선정됐다.
부산시는 6월 30일 국가유산청이 주관한 '제48차 2026년 유네스코 세계유산위원회 개최 국내 후보도시 선정' 공모에서 전국 17개 시도를 대상으로 한 평가에서 최종 후보지로 낙점됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 선정은 개최국 지정을 위한 사전 절차로, 오는 7월 15일 프랑스 파리에서 열리는 제47차 유네스코 세계유산위원회에서 최종 개최국이 확정될 예정이다.
유네스코 세계유산위원회(WHC)는 세계유산협약(1972년)에 근거하여 설립된 국제기구로, 세계유산의 등재, 보호 및 보존 관련 최고 의사결정 기구이다. 세계유산협약 가입국은 196개국이며, 이 중 21개국이 위원국으로 활동하고 있다. 한국은 1997년에 이어 2023년부터 2027년까지 네 번째 위원국으로 활동 중이다.
