경북교육청, 대구교대안동부설초 ‘IB PYP 후보학교’ 공식 승인

【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청(교육감 임종식)은 안동시에 위치한 대구교육대학교안동부설초등학교가 국제 바칼로레아(IB) 초등과정(PYP) 후보학교로 공식 승인됐다고 2일 밝혔다.

이번 승인으로 대구교대안동부설초는 구미원당초에 이어 경북 도내 두 번째 IB PYP 후보학교가 됐으며, 경북교육청의 미래역량 기반 수업 혁신이 더욱 탄력을 받게 됐다.

IB(International Baccalaureate) 프로그램은 학생 중심의 탐구 기반 학습을 통해 자기 주도적 학습역량, 비판적 사고력, 국제적 감수성 등을 기르는 글로벌 교육과정이다. 전 세계적으로 미래 교육을 선도하는 모델로 주목받고 있으며, 경북교육청은 이를 경북형 교육 혁신의 핵심 축으로 삼고 있다.

대구교대안동부설초는 ‘삶이 있는 배움, 모두가 행복한 학교’를 비전으로, IB 철학을 학교 교육과정 전반에 반영할 계획이다. 학생 주도의 탐구 중심 수업과 협력적 교육과정 운영을 통해 IB 교육의 핵심 가치를 실현해 나가겠다는 방침이다.

특히 이번 승인은 교육과정 재구성, 교사학습공동체 중심의 실천, 교사 연수 강화 등 그간 체계적인 준비가 주요 배경이 됐다. 김정기 교장은 “IB 철학을 바탕으로 학생 한 명 한 명이 존중받고 성장하는 교육을 실현하겠다”며 “지역과 세계를 잇는 인재를 키우는 데 앞장서겠다”고 밝혔다.

경북교육청은 이번 후보학교 승인을 통해 IB 탐구학교 40교, 관심학교 8교, 후보학교 2교를 운영하게 됐다. 당초 2026학년도 후보학교 운영을 목표로 했지만, 지난 6월 구미원당초에 이어 두 번째 후보학교가 조기 승인되며 정책 추진에 속도가 붙었다.

임종식 교육감은 “IB 후보학교의 확산은 경북형 IB 교육이 학교 현장에서 안정적으로 안착하고 있다는 의미”라며 “앞으로도 더 많은 학교가 IB 철학을 실현할 수 있도록 적극 지원해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
