천안시의회(의장 김행금)는 오는 7월 4일 오전 11시, 천안시의회 본회의장에서 '제9대 후반기 개원 1주년 및 민선지방자치 30주년 기념행사’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 제9대 후반기 의회 출범 1주년을 맞아 그동안의 의정활동을 되돌아보고, 민선지방자치 30주년의 역사적 의미를 되새기며, 지역의회의 미래 발전을 함께 모색하는 자리로 마련됐다.
아울러 천안시의회와 함께 지방자치의 역사를 일궈온 전직 의원(의정동우회)을 비롯한 현직 의원과 의회사무국 직원 등 약 90여 명이 참석해 자리를 빛낼 예정이다.
행사는 오전 10시 30분 천안시청 브리핑실에서 열리는 의장단·상임위원장·각 당 원내대표의 언론 브리핑으로 시작된다. 이어 11시부터 천안시의회 3층 본회의장에서 본행사가 진행된다.
공식 행사는 '제9대 후반기 의회 개원 1주년 및 민선지방자치 30주년 기념영상 상영', '의정발전 유공자 표창', '인사말씀', '기념 케이크 커팅', '의원 및 관계자 기념식수' 등으로 구성되어 있으며, 자치분권 강화와 의정발전의 의지를 함께 다지는 시간으로 꾸며질 예정이다.
이날 행사에서는 지방의회 발전에 기여한 인물들에 대한 표창 수여도 진행된다.
제1대 천안군의회 의장을 지낸 심재호 전 의장이 의정발전 유공자로 선정되었으며, 제9대 후반기 각 상임위원회를 이끈 배성민 의회운영위원장, 강성기 경제산업위원장, 육종영 행정안전위원장, 이종만 복지문화위원장, 노종관 건설교통위원장, 이상구 윤리특별위원장도 함께 표창을 받는다.
이들은 각각의 소관 상임위원회를 이끌며 다양한 조례안 발의, 시정질문, 정책 제안 등을 통해 시민의 삶의 질 향상과 지역 현안 해결에 주도적인 역할을 수행했다.
