세상을 살면서 가장 신비하게 생각해온 일은
나에게 온 돈들은 한결같이, 갈 목적지를
정확하게 알고 있다는 사실이다.
돈이 나한테 올 때마다
꼭 갈 데가 있었고
그렇게 가고 말았다.
“돈아, 제발 나와 함께 오래 있어 주오”
애원을 해도
돈은 뒤도 돌아보지 않고
제 갈 곳으로 떠나갔다.
돈이, 무겁고 무거운 돌이라면
기중기가 올 때까지
늘 나와 함께 있을 터인데.
돈아,
갈 곳이라는 목적지를 알고 있는 돈아.
나의 눈 속에서 기어코 눈물을 빼고 떠난
야속하게 나를 떠난
매정한 나의 돈아.

The most mysterious thing I have ever thought of in my life is that
the money that comes to me always knows exactly where it is going.
Every time money comes to me
it has a place to go
and it ends up going that way.
“Money, please stay with me for a long time,”
even though I beg,
money doesn’t even look back
and goes to its own place.
If money were a heavy, heavy stone
it would always stay with me
until the crane comes.
Money,
money that knows where to go.
My cruel money that has left me
with tears in my eyes
and has left me cruelly.
