(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 7일, 시민들의 대중교통 이용 편의를 높이고 쾌적한 도시 이미지를 조성하기 위해 신형 버스 승강장(쉘터) 설치와 다양한 편의시설 도입을 지속적으로 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 올해 시는 구와 매칭으로 총 30억 2천만 원의 예산을 투입해 버스승강장(쉴터) 125개소를 비롯해 조명등 126개, 온열 의자 38개, 에어 송풍기 76개 등총 143개의 편의시설과 함께 버스승차알림장치 30개를 설치할 계획이다.
6월 말 현재 전체 목표의 60% 이상이 완료된 상태다.
시민들로부터 특히 높은 호응을 얻고 있는 시설은 여름철 시원한 바람을 제공하는 에어송풍기와 겨울철 따뜻한 온열 의자 등 체감형 편의시설이다.
이들 시설은 모든 연령층, 특히 노인과 교통약자들에게 만족도가 높아 전통시장이나 노인복지관 등 어르신과 교통약자가 자주 이용하는 지역을 중심으로 설치 요청이 크게 증가하고 있다.
이에 따라 인천시는 최근 미추홀구, 부평구 등과 협력해 석바위시장, 부평구노인복지관 인근 버스승강장에 편의시설을 설치하기 위한 예산을 특별교부세 등을 통해 추가 지원하기도 했다.

신형 승강장은 기본형, 밀폐형, 장변형 등 총 8가지 유형으로, 각 지역의 인도 폭과 이용 여건을 고려해 맞춤형으로 설치되고 있으며, 디자인과 내구성이 우수해 시민들의 만족도가 높게 나타나고 있다.
