【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=선린대학교(총장 곽진환) 이차전지융합과(학과장 옥창우)는 지난 7월 4일부터 5일까지 선린대학교 및 한국폴리텍대학 포항캠퍼스에서 진행된'2025학년도 전공실무역량 강화프로그램'을 성공적으로 마무리하고, ‘배터리성능평가사’ 자격을 취득한 재학생 14명을 대상으로 수료식을 개최했다.

이번 프로그램은 교육부의 ‘지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE) 사업’ 중 「K-U시티 인재양성 및 혁신기술 개발사업」의 일환으로 운영되었으며, 이차전지 산업에 특화된 전문 기술인력 양성 및 지역 정주형 인재 육성을 통해 지역 경제 활성화에 기여하고자 마련됐다.
선린대학교 이차전지융합과는 올해 3월 해당 사업에 선정되어 향후 5년간(2025~2029년) 총 22억 5,000만 원 규모의 국고 지원을 받아 관련 교육과정을 지속적으로 확대할 계획이다.
옥창우 학과장은 “이번 민간 자격증 취득은 학생들의 실무 능력을 키우는 의미 있는 첫걸음”이라며, “향후 국가공인 자격시험 개발에도 박차를 가해 이차전지 분야 전문성 강화를 이어갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
곽진환 총장은 “최근 이차전지 산업이 캐즘(chasm) 현상으로 다소 위축된 것은 사실이지만, 이번 RISE 사업을 통해 포항지역 특화산업의 경쟁력을 높일 우수 인재를 지속적으로 양성해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
한편, 선린대학교는 이차전지 산업의 핵심 인력 배출을 목표로 다양한 실습 중심 교육과 산학 협력 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, 지역 산업 수요에 부응하는 인재 양성 모델 구축에 힘쓰고 있다.

This program was operated as part of the Ministry of Education's 'Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE) Project', the 'K-U City Talent Development and Innovative Technology Development Project', and was created to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy by fostering specialized technical personnel specialized in the secondary battery industry and fostering local talent.
Seonlin University's Secondary Battery Convergence Department was selected for the project in March of this year and plans to continuously expand related educational courses by receiving a total of 2.25 billion won in national support for the next five years (2025-2029).
Department Head Ok Chang-woo said, "This private qualification acquisition is a meaningful first step toward improving students' practical skills," and added, "We will continue to strengthen our expertise in the secondary battery field by accelerating the development of nationally recognized qualification exams in the future."
President Kwak Jin-hwan emphasized, "It is true that the secondary battery industry has recently shrunk somewhat due to the chasm phenomenon, but through this RISE project, we will continue to foster excellent talents who will enhance the competitiveness of specialized industries in the Pohang region."
Meanwhile, Seonlin University is operating various practical training-centered education and industry-academia cooperation programs with the goal of producing key personnel in the secondary battery industry, and is striving to establish a talent cultivation model that meets the needs of local industries.
