충남 서천군이 지역 대표 수산물인 김 산업의 경쟁력을 끌어올리기 위한 대규모 기반 조성에 본격 나섰다. 군은 ‘마른김 특화단지 조성 사업’ 추진과 관련해 충청남도에 재정적 지원을 정식으로 건의하며 도 차원의 협력을 공식 요청했다.
군은 지난 9일 충남도청 대회의실에서 열린 제8회 충청남도 지방정부회의에 참석해, 노후화된 김 가공시설의 현대화와 안정적인 물 공급 체계 구축의 필요성을 집중적으로 설명했다.
