공주시-공주대학교, '2025년 백제왕도 학술대회' 성료

백제역사유적지구의 유네스코 세계유산 등재 10주년을 기념하는 학술대회가 지난 8일 국립공주대학교 국제회의실에서 열렸다. 

공주시(시장 최원철)가 주최하고 국립공주대학교가 주관한 이번 행사는 ‘백제역사유적지구 유네스코 세계유산 등재 10주년 성과와 과제’를 주제로 학계 전문가, 문화재 관계자 등 120여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

행사는 개회식을 시작으로 세계유산 등재 이후의 변화와 향후 발전 방향에 대한 기조 강연과 주제 발표, 종합토론 순으로 구성됐다. 특히 이날 기조 강연에 나선 권오영 서울대학교 교수는 “백제역사유적지구의 세계유산 등재는 지역의 문화 정체성을 강화하고 관광 산업에 활력을 불어넣는 계기가 됐다”며, “지속 가능한 발전을 위해서는 유적지 간 통합 관리와 중앙-지방 간 협력 체계 구축이 시급하다”고 강조했다.

뒤이어 발표에 나선 김문옥 공주대학교 박물관 학예사는 “공산성 발굴을 통해 백제 왕성으로서의 역사성과 상징성이 더욱 뚜렷해졌다”며 “문화유산의 진정성을 회복하고 대중 인식을 제고하는 후속 노력이 필요하다”고 밝혔다. 박범희 국립부여문화유산연구소 연구원은 백제 유적지 보존과 활용의 균형을 짚으며 “지역 공동체와의 연계를 기반으로 한 지속 가능한 관리 체계를 마련해야 한다”고 진단했다.

이후 진행된 종합토론에서는 윤용혁 공주대학교 명예교수가 좌장을 맡아 양기홍 국립부여문화유산연구소 학예연구사 등 6명의 전문가들이 패널로 나서 백제역사유적지구의 미래 방향성을 심도 있게 논의했다. 토론자들은 세계유산으로서의 진정성 유지, 시민 참여 확대, 디지털 기술을 활용한 해석 콘텐츠 개발 등의 필요성을 공통적으로 지적했다.

최원철 공주시장은 “이번 학술대회는 세계유산 등재 10주년의 의미를 되새기고, 앞으로의 과제를 함께 고민하는 귀중한 기회”라며 “앞으로도 백제역사유적지구의 고유한 가치를 보존하고 널리 알리기 위해 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 백제역사유적지구는 2015년 유네스코 세계유산으로 등재됐으며, 공주(공산성·송산리 고분군), 부여(관북리 유적·부소산성 등), 익산(미륵사지·왕궁리 유적) 등 백제 후기 수도권의 핵심 유산들로 구성돼 있다. 10주년을 맞아 각 지자체는 보존과 활용을 병행하는 미래 전략 마련에 더욱 박차를 가하고 있다.
