충청남도교육청(교육감 김지철)이 천안시, 천안교육지원청, 천안제일고등학교와 함께 ‘충남체육문화복합센터’ 건립을 위한 실시협약을 11일 체결했다.
협약식은 천안 타운홀에서 열렸으며, 천안시에서는 권한대행 김석필 부시장, 교육청 측에서는 이병도 천안교육지원청 교육장과 황명주 천안제일고 교장이 참석했다.
이번에 추진되는 ‘충남체육문화복합센터’는 총 489억 원의 예산이 투입되는 대규모 학교복합시설로, 천안제일고 부지에 들어설 예정이다. 충남교육청이 389억 원을, 천안시가 100억 원을 각각 분담하며, 개관 목표 시점은 2028년 7월로 잡혀 있다.
센터는 지하 1층, 지상 3층 규모(연면적 6,417.76㎡)로 설계되며, 실내체육관과 단체운동실(GX실), 도서관, 소강당, 다목적실 등 다양한 기능을 갖춘 공간으로 구성된다. 이와 더불어 인접 부지 13,045㎡에 공원도 함께 조성되어 지역 주민에게도 개방되는 개방형 복합문화공간으로 운영될 예정이다.
