태안해양경찰서(서장 김진영)는 12일 오전 10시 58분경 충남 태안군 안면읍 백사장해수욕장에서 물놀이 도중 바다로 떠내려간 12세 남자 어린이를 구조했다고 밝혔다.
태안해경에 따르면, 당시 해당 어린이는 튜브를 타고 해수욕을 즐기던 중 조류에 휩쓸려 해상으로 표류한 것으로 파악됐다. 이를 목격한 주변 이용객이 즉시 신고했고, 해경은 곧바로 마검포파출소 소속 해안순찰팀을 현장에 급파했다.
신고 접수 후 약 12분 만에 현장에 도착한 해안순찰팀은 동력구조보드를 이용해 해상으로 이동, 무사히 아동을 구조했다. 구조 당시 아동은 구명조끼를 착용하고 있었으며, 의식이 명확하고 건강상태에도 이상이 없었던 것으로 확인됐다.
태안해경은 이번 구조가 신속한 대응과 기본적인 안전수칙 준수 덕분에 가능했다고 평가했다.
해경 관계자는 “7월 11일(금)부터 16일(수)까지는 조수 간만의 차가 큰 대조기 기간으로, 해수욕장 이용 시 각별한 주의가 필요하다”며 “물놀이 전 반드시 구명조끼를 착용하고, 기상 상황 및 물때 정보를 사전에 확인해 안전한 장소에서 활동해달라”고 당부했다.
태안해경은 여름철 성수기를 맞아 인명사고 예방을 위해 해변 순찰을 강화하고, 주요 해수욕장에 구조장비와 인력을 상시 배치하고 있다. 이와 함께, 안전 캠페인과 계도 활동도 병행해 지역 주민과 관광객 모두의 안전한 여름을 위한 대응에 힘쓰고 있다.
