충남대·공주대, ‘빵 나눔’ 통해 지역사회 연대 나서

교육부의 ‘2025년 글로컬대학사업’ 예비지정 대학인 충남대학교(총장 김정겸)와 국립공주대학교(총장 임경호)가 지역사회와의 연대를 구체화하고, 국립대학으로서의 공공적 역할을 실천하기 위한 공동 봉사활동을 펼쳤다.

충남대와 공주대는 14일, 공주시 자원봉사센터에서 ‘같이, 가치를 굽다’를 주제로 ‘빵 나눔 봉사활동’을 진행했다. 이날 행사에는 김정겸 충남대 총장과 임경호 공주대 총장을 비롯한 양교 주요 보직자 30여 명이 참여해 직접 빵을 만들고 포장한 뒤, 이를 공주지역의 ‘한울지역아동센터’와 대전시 ‘자립지원전담기관’에 전달했다.

이번 활동은 두 대학이 글로컬대학사업의 추진 기조 중 하나인 ‘통합기반 혁신’을 지역사회 나눔 활동을 통해 실현한 사례로, 단순한 봉사활동을 넘어 국립대학의 사회적 책무와 공동체적 책임을 되새기는 계기가 됐다.

앞서 충남대와 공주대는 지난 6월 국립대전현충원에서 공동으로 ‘태극기 꽂기 봉사활동’을 진행한 바 있다. 이번 ‘빵 나눔’은 그 두 번째 연합활동으로, 양교의 사회공헌 활동이 일회성 행사를 넘어서 지속가능한 공동 실천으로 자리잡아가고 있다는 점에서 주목된다.

봉사활동 이후 양교는 자리를 옮겨 ‘글로컬대학사업 실행계획서 중간 점검 회의’를 열고, 현재까지의 추진 과정과 실행 전략을 공유했다. 두 대학은 향후에도 교육, 연구, 산학협력은 물론 사회공헌 영역에서의 공동 추진을 확대함으로써, 글로컬대학의 실질적 모델을 정립해 나간다는 계획이다.

김정겸 충남대 총장은 “이번 빵 나눔 봉사는 충남대와 국립공주대가 함께하는 두 번째 연합 사회공헌활동으로, 국립대학이 지역사회에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있는 실천적 모델을 제시한 데 큰 의미가 있다”며, “앞으로도 글로컬대학사업의 취지에 맞게 지역과 함께 성장하고 상생하는 대학의 역할을 충실히 수행하겠다”고 말했다.

임경호 공주대 총장 역시 “작은 빵 하나에 담긴 정성과 나눔의 마음이 지역 사회 구성원들의 삶에 따뜻한 위로와 희망이 되기를 바란다”며, “우리 대학은 앞으로도 지역사회와 함께 동행하며, 진정한 글로컬대학으로서 공공적 책임을 성실히 수행하겠다”고 강조했다.
