홍성군, 중부권 유일 ‘스마트농업 육성지구’ 최종 지정

충남 홍성군이 농림축산식품부로부터 ‘스마트농업 육성지구’로 최종 지정되며, 미래형 농업을 선도할 기반 마련에 본격 시동을 걸었다. 

전국 5개 지자체 중 하나로 선정된 홍성군은 중부권에서는 유일하게 이름을 올리며, 스마트팜과 첨단 유통·물류, 청년 창업을 아우르는 공공형 농업 복합단지를 구축할 계획이다.

홍성군에 따르면 이번 사업은 지난해 예비 대상자 선정 이후 농림축산식품부 기본계획 승인을 통해 확정됐으며, 함께 지정된 지자체로는 전북 남원, 전남 고흥·장성, 경남 거창이 있다. 이 가운데 홍성군은 충청권을 대표하는 스마트농업 시범지역으로 주목받고 있다.

사업 대상지는 홍성군 서부면 광리 663번지와 갈산면 동산리 1032번지 일원으로, 두 권역을 합쳐 총 23만5,066㎡(약 7.1만 평)의 부지에 걸쳐 조성된다. 사업비는 총 482억 원으로, 이 중 국비와 도비를 포함한 259억 원이 투입된다. 군은 2027년까지 '스마트팜 기반의 딸기·토마토 재배 생산시설', '공동 유통·물류 시스템', '청년농 창업 인큐베이팅 공간' 등을 포함한 공공복합단지를 단계적으로 완공할 예정이다.
