충남 천안시가 15일부터 17일까지 부산 벡스코에서 개최되는 ‘2025 월드 스마트시티 엑스포(WSCE 2025)’에 참가해, 미래형 도시 조성을 향한 전략과 기술력을 전 세계에 선보인다.
이번 엑스포는 아시아 최대 규모의 스마트시티 국제행사로, 200여 개 도시와 300여 개 기업·기관이 참여해 글로벌 도시 간 정책과 기술을 교류하는 플랫폼이다.
천안시는 ‘거점형 스마트도시 조성사업’의 주체 도시로서 독립 홍보관을 마련하고, 민·관·학 협력 기반의 실증 콘텐츠를 통해 차별화된 도시 혁신 모델을 제시할 예정이다.
홍보관은 천안시를 중심으로 구성된 11개 기관의 컨소시엄이 공동 운영하며, 주요 전시 내용은 AI 기술을 접목한 자원순환 시스템, 도시 데이터를 통합·분석하는 디지털트윈 플랫폼 ‘버추얼 스테이션’, 자율주행 기술과 연계된 스마트 모빌리티, 시민 중심 데이터 기반 도시운영 시스템 ‘천안형 GPT’ 등으로 구성된다. 모든 콘텐츠는 방문객이 직접 체험할 수 있도록 실증 기반 전시로 기획돼, 관람객의 이해도를 높인다.
천안시는 지난해 국토교통부가 주관한 ‘거점형 스마트도시 조성사업’ 공모에서 선정돼 총사업비 342억 원을 확보했다. 현재 천안역세권 혁신지구, 스마트그린 산업단지, 캠퍼스 혁신파크를 연계한 도심 내 테스트베드 구축이 본격 추진 중이다.
시는 이번 엑스포 참여를 통해 거점형 스마트도시가 현실에 안착하고 있음을 국내외 전문가들에게 실질적으로 알리는 동시에, 산학연 공동 연구성과를 시각적으로 구현해 도시 내 기술 적용 가능성과 확장성을 강조할 계획이다.
김석필 천안시장 권한대행 부시장은 “WSCE 2025는 천안이 추진 중인 스마트도시 전략을 세계 도시와 공유하고, 민간 기업 및 국제기구와 협력을 심화할 수 있는 절호의 기회”라며 “거점형 스마트도시 조성사업을 통해 충청권을 대표하는 혁신 허브도시로 도약해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
