【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=울진군(군수 손병복)이 오는 7월 19일부터 20일까지 이틀간 연호생활체육공원 축구장에서 ‘제21회 울진금강송배 동호인 초청 족구대회’를 개최한다.

이번 대회는 경상북도족구협회가 주최하고 울진군체육회와 울진군족구협회가 공동 주관하며, 전국 각지에서 모인 족구 동호인 82개 팀, 약 700여 명이 참가해 열띤 경쟁을 펼칠 예정이다.
경기는 초청 40부, 경북 여성부, 울진 관내부, 경북 1·2·3부 등 총 6개 부문으로 나뉘며, 예선은 조별 리그전으로, 결선은 토너먼트 방식으로 진행된다. 특히 초청 40부와 여성부 등 다양한 연령층과 성별을 아우르는 종목이 포함돼 족구의 저변 확대와 체력 증진을 동시에 꾀한다.
족구는 유산소와 무산소 운동을 동시에 수행할 수 있는 전신 스포츠로, 하체 근력 강화는 물론 순발력, 유연성, 협응 능력 향상에 효과적이다. 또한 팀워크와 전략이 중요한 종목인 만큼 사회성과 협동심을 기를 수 있는 생활 밀착형 스포츠로 각광받고 있다.
손병복 울진군수는 “족구는 강도 높은 운동임에도 부상 위험이 적어 남녀노소 누구나 즐길 수 있는 매력적인 종목”이라며, “이번 대회가 건강한 여가문화 확산과 동호인 간 유대 강화의 장이 되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 울진군은 생활체육 활성화를 위해 지속적인 인프라 확충과 종목별 동호회 활동 지원을 이어가며, 건강하고 활기찬 지역 공동체 조성에 박차를 가하고 있다.
