[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 북극항로 상용화 시대에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 구성한 ‘부산 북극항로 개척 전담조직(TF)’이 22일 시청에서 두 번째 회의를 열고, 북극항로 허브도시 조성을 위한 전략 수립에 본격 착수했다.
이번 회의는 북극항로 중심도시로서 부산의 입지를 확보하기 위한 정책 개발과 중장기 계획 수립을 목적으로 진행 중인 ‘북극항로 허브도시 부산 조성을 위한 연구용역’의 자문과 추진 방향을 논의하는 자리였다. 회의는 오후 4시, 부산시청 12층 소회의실에서 개최됐으며, 전담조직(TF) 위원들과 용역 수행기관이 참석했다.
부산시는 앞서 지난 2월 열린 1차 회의에서 북극항로 허브도시 조성을 위한 연구 필요성이 제기됨에 따라, 올해 제1회 추가경정예산에 2억 원을 반영해 용역을 본격 추진하게 됐다. 용역은 동아대학교 산학협력단이 최종 수행기관으로 선정돼 진행 중이며, 이날 회의에서는 정성문 교수가 ▲과업 개요 ▲수행 계획 및 방법 ▲협조체계 구축 방안 등을 발표했다.

시는 이번 회의를 통해 실현 가능한 정책을 적극 발굴하고, 연구용역 결과와 연계해 부산의 해양경제 영역을 확장할 구체적인 전략을 마련할 계획이다. 동시에 부산항 친환경 복합에너지터미널 조성, 극지 전문 인력 양성, 북극항로 전담 위원회 및 진흥원 설립 등 핵심 기반 조성에도 박차를 가할 예정이다.
성희엽 미래혁신부시장은 “북극항로는 기후변화와 글로벌 공급망 재편 속에서 새로운 전략 항로로 주목받고 있다”며, “부산이 이에 선제적으로 대응해 신해양산업, 글로벌 물류, 기후데이터 기술 등 미래 신성장 분야의 중심도시로 도약할 수 있도록 실현 가능한 전략을 수립해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

The ‘Busan Arctic Route Development Task Force (TF)’, which Busan City established to proactively respond to the era of commercialization of the Arctic Route, held its second meeting at City Hall on July 22 and began establishing strategies for creating an Arctic Route hub city in earnest.
