【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구시교육청(교육감 강은희)은 ‘2025 여름방학 민주시민 체험교실’을 운영하고 있다고 25일 밝혔다.
지난 24일부터 오는 29일까지 대구민주교육센터에서 초등 5학년부터 고등학생까지 206명을 대상으로 진행되는 이번 체험교실은 초·중·고 학생들이 함께 참여해 세대 간 소통과 협력도 이끌어낸다.
학생 주도의 참여와 체험을 통해 민주주의 가치와 시민적 책임을 자연스럽게 익히도록 돕는 체험 프로그램은 비폭력대화, 역사드라마, 교육연극, 소셜 리빙랩, 모의법정, 디지털 시민성, 모의국회 등 총 7가지로 구성돼 있으며, 학생들은 원하는 일자별 프로그램을 선택해 참여한다.

모든 활동은 소규모로 진행되며 학생 스스로 참여하고 성찰하는 과정을 통해 민주시민으로 성장할 수 있도록 설계됐다.
참여 학생은 ‘예비시민 스티커’를 부착한 뒤 프로그램을 마치면 ‘민주시민 스티커’로 교체하고, 이를 통해 상징적으로 민주시민 자격을 부여받는다.
또한 토의·토론, 발표 등에 적극적으로 참여한 학생에게는 ‘민주 화폐’가 주어지며, 이를 기부하거나 기념품 구매에 사용함으로써 나눔과 공정의 가치를 직접 체험하게 된다.
강은희 교육감은 “이번 체험교실은 학생들이 자율적으로 참여하며 민주시민으로서 책임의식을 기를 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간”이라며 “앞으로도 방학 기간 동안 다양한 체험 중심 프로그램을 통해 민주주의 가치를 생활 속에서 익힐 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eun-hee) announced on the 25th that it is operating the ‘2025 Summer Vacation Democratic Citizen Experience Classroom.’

Participating students attach a ‘prospective citizen sticker’ and, upon completing the program, change it to a ‘democratic citizen sticker’, thereby symbolically granting them the status of democratic citizen.
In addition, students who actively participate in discussions, debates, presentations, etc. are given ‘democracy currency’, and they can experience the values of sharing and fairness firsthand by donating or using it to purchase souvenirs.
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee said, “This experiential classroom is a meaningful time for students to participate voluntarily and develop a sense of responsibility as democratic citizens,” and added, “We will continue to actively support students to learn democratic values in their daily lives through various experiential programs during the vacation period.”
