(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 부평구가 30일, 교통사고 예방을 위한 ‘2025년 어린이 보호구역 내 무인교통단속장비 설치 사업’을 완료했다고 밝혔다.
부평구에 따르면, 구는 사업비 1억 6천만원을 들여 갈산초 등 4곳에 후면무인교통단속장비 총 4대를 설치했다.
이번에 설치된 장비는 통행하는 모든 차량(사륜차·이륜차)의 후면 번호판을 인식해 신호·과속 단속은 물론, 이륜차 안전모 미착용 단속까지도 가능한 장비이다.
한국도로교통공단 성능검사 후 인천경찰청으로 인계돼 오는 9월 중 운영이 시작될 예정이다.
앞서 부평구는 주민 민원과 통학로의 안전성, 과속 민원 등을 고려해 지난 3월 인천경찰청·한국도로교통공단과 합동 조사를 거쳐 대상지를 선정했다.
부평구 관계자는 “그동안 단속의 사각지대로 여겨졌던 이륜차 단속이 가능해져 어린이 교통사고를 사전에 예방할 수 있을 것”이라며 “앞으로도 안전한 통학환경 조성을 위해 더욱 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

또한, 부평구 인천나비공원이 오는 8월 6일부터 27일까지 매주 수요일마다 ‘썸머 벅스라이프 스쿨’을 운영한다고 밝혔다.
인천나비공원에 따르면, 유아와 초등학생(5세~10세)을 동반한 가족을 대상으로 한 이번 프로그램은 곤충과 자연의 소중함을 알리고자 마련됐다.
인천나비공원에서 근무하고 있는 곤충전문가가 참가자들이 곤충을 가까이서 관찰하고 곤충표본을 만들 수 있도록 도와, 아이들이 곤충에 대해 이해하고 친숙해질 수 있는 시간을 갖도록 한다.
