우재준 의원은 31일 "우리 당이 국민에게 민주당의 대안세력으로 인정받지 못하고 있다"며 "반성과 쇄신을 바탕으로 신뢰를 회복하겠다"는 입장을 출마선언문을 통해 밝혔다.
특히 윤석열 대통령의 비상계엄에 대해서는 "자유민주주의 질서에 반하는 조치였으며, 이에 대한 책임을 피할 수 없다"면서도 "우리가 먼저 책임지는 자세를 보여야 국민이 다시 돌아볼 것"이라고 강조했다.
우 의원은 자신이 계엄 해제에 참여한 18명 의원 중 한 명이라는 점을 부각하며 정치적 입지를 드러냈다. "민주당으로부터 자유로운 위치에서 이재명 정부를 견제할 수 있다"며 "국민의힘을 유능한 대안세력으로 탈바꿈시키겠다"고 포부를 밝혔다.

한편 청년 최고위원 경선에는 손수조 전 새누리당 대변인이 지난 30일 후보 등록을 마친 상태다.
