울릉군은 지난 7월 30일부터 31일까지 이틀간 기획재정부를 시작으로 행정안전부, 환경부, 해양수산부 등 관련 부처를 차례로 방문해 국비 반영을 요청하는 면담을 진행했다.
이번 방문에서는 ▲노후 상수도관망 정비사업 ▲공공하수도 처리시설 확충 ▲하수찌꺼기 처리시설 설치 ▲빗물 재이용 시설 설치 ▲여객선 운임 지원 확대 ▲도서항로 공공책임 강화 ▲도동항 부지 확장 등 총 7개 핵심 사업에 대한 필요성과 시급성을 설명했다.
특히 울릉군은 지난해 제정된 「울릉도 등 국토외곽 먼섬 지원 특별법」에 따라 현재 진행 중인 종합발전계획 수립 과정에서 지역 제출 사업의 부처별 반영과 국비 보조율 상향을 강력히 건의하며, 법 제정이 실질적 지원으로 이어지기 위한 제도적 기반 마련을 촉구했다.
정부부처 방문 일정 중 울릉군은 경상북도 행정부지사와 별도 면담을 갖고, 도서민 여객선 운임 및 생필품 해상운송비 지원에 대한 도비 부담 확대를 요청했다. 더불어 경북 유일의 도서지역으로서 정주여건 개선을 위한 광역 차원의 협력방안도 함께 논의했다.
남한권 울릉군수는 “울릉군은 단순한 외곽의 섬이 아닌, 환동해 시대를 여는 해양 관문이자 국가 해양영토 수호의 전략 거점”이라며 “앞으로도 중앙정부, 국회, 경상북도 등과의 긴밀한 협력을 통해 특별법의 실질적 성과를 이끌어내고, 군민 삶의 질 향상을 위한 예산 확보에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Furthermore, as the only island in Gyeongsangbuk-do, they discussed regional-level cooperation measures to improve living conditions.
Ulleung County Mayor Nam Han-kwon stated, "Ulleung County is not simply a remote island, but a maritime gateway ushering in the era of the East Sea Rim and a strategic base for protecting the nation's maritime territory." He added, "We will continue to work closely with the central government, the National Assembly, and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to achieve tangible results from the special law and do our utmost to secure a budget that will enhance the quality of life for our residents."
