MBN presents its special one-episode drama Polaroid (written by Kim Jin-hwan, directed by Son Byung-jo), premiering on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 12:00 AM (KST). Starring Park Won-sang and Lee Mi-do, the drama delivers a profound and emotional love story that blooms in the final moments of life.
Polaroid begins with Deok-jung (Park Won-sang), a man diagnosed with a terminal illness, and Jung-sook (Lee Mi-do), a woman struggling to survive each day at the bottom of life, who encounter each other in a run-down boarding house. Despite their bleak and humble circumstances, they gradually become rays of light in each other’s lives. Like a single polaroid photograph, their encounter becomes a fleeting yet eternal moment forever etched in memory.
But Polaroid is more than just a mature melodrama. Alongside the central love story, the drama weaves in youthful romance and the passionate pursuit of dreams. The weary characters, standing at life’s crossroads, rediscover forgotten hope through the fiery energy and love of the younger generation. At one point, Deok-jung quietly gifts a polaroid camera, entrusting the message: “Hold on to this moment for a long time.”
Actor Kim Myeong Ho, who portrays a young dreamer in the drama, was nominated for Best Actor at the 2024 LA WebFest and went on to win the Special Lead Actor Award. In Polaroid, he once again enriches the emotional depth of the work with his sincere performance that resonates across borders.
The script for Polaroid won the Lotte Corporation Entertainment Dept. Screenplay Contest, received selected production fund support from the Korea Creative Content Agency, and has also been officially selected for the 2025 Hollywood Series in Los Angeles.
