[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국민의힘 부산 북구(을) 시·구의원들이 27일 기자회견을 열고 민주당의 정치 공세를 강력히 규탄했다.
국민의힘 의원들은 북구청이 문화체육관광부 생활체육시설 확충 지원사업 재공모에서 만덕1동 스포츠문화센터 건립 사업만 신청한 것을 두고 민주당이 “정치적 계산”을 언급하며 문제를 제기한 데 대해 “현안 파악도 제대로 하지 않은 채 갈등을 조장하고 있다”고 비판했다.
북구의원들은 “북구청의 결정은 정치적 고려와 무관하다”며 “재정 여건, 공모 선정 가능성, 대체 시설 여부, 민원 발생 가능성 등 객관적이고 합리적인 기준을 종합적으로 검토한 결과”라고 강조했다.
북구는 재정자립도가 낮아 국비와 지방비 매칭 방식으로 진행되는 사업을 동시에 추진하기 어려운 상황이다. 이에 따라 공모 선정 가능성과 시급성을 고려해 만덕1동 스포츠문화센터 건립을 신청했다는 설명이다. 만덕1동 부지는 이미 확보돼 있고 150대 이상 주차장 확장이 가능해 사업 타당성이 높은 반면, 만덕3동 개나리공원 부지는 구조적 제약이 많고 인근에 유사 시설이 운영 중이어서 공모 선정 가능성이 낮다는 것이다.

On August 27, city and district council members from the People Power Party (PPP) representing Buk-gu (Eul) in Busan held a press conference to strongly denounce what they described as the Democratic Party's “political offensives.”
The PPP lawmakers criticized the Democratic Party for raising issues over Buk-gu District Office’s decision to submit only one project—the construction of a Sports and Culture Center in Mandeok 1-dong—for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public funding program to expand sports facilities. The Democratic Party had claimed political motives behind the selection, to which the PPP members responded by accusing them of “fomenting conflict without fully understanding the facts.”
The PPP representatives stressed that the district office’s decision was made without political considerations. “It was based on a comprehensive review of objective and rational criteria such as financial conditions, the likelihood of project approval, availability of alternative facilities, and potential civil complaints,” they said.
Buk-gu, which has a low fiscal self-reliance ratio, is reportedly unable to simultaneously pursue multiple projects requiring matched funding from national and local budgets. As such, the district office prioritized the Mandeok 1-dong center, citing higher feasibility.
The site has already been secured, with the potential to accommodate over 150 parking spaces, which they say enhances its viability. In contrast, the proposed site in Mandeok 3-dong (Gaenari Park) has structural limitations and nearby facilities with overlapping functions, reducing its chances of being selected.
The PPP lawmakers also pointed out that previous disqualifications from the ministry’s public offering process often stemmed from unresolved issues such as lack of secured land, uncertainty in national budget allocation, or concerns over public opposition. “The district’s judgment was based on a realistic assessment,” they asserted.
They further criticized the Democratic Party for suggesting political motives behind the decision, stating, “They are dividing residents based on electoral boundaries and inciting unnecessary conflict. It is irresponsible to use public welfare projects as tools for political dispute.”
The PPP members concluded by saying, “This decision was not about partisan interests, but about maximizing resident benefits and using public funds efficiently. Regional development should be achieved through tangible outcomes, not political strife.”
The group called on the Democratic Party to “stop distorting reasonable administrative decisions and end divisive politics,” urging them to instead engage in constructive cooperation for the benefit of local development and residents’ welfare.
국민의힘 의원들은 “문화체육관광부 공모 선정 제외 사유에는 부지 미확보, 국비 집행 불투명, 민원 발생 우려 등이 포함돼 있다”며 “북구청의 판단은 현실적 고려에서 나온 것”이라고 밝혔다.
그러면서 민주당이 이번 결정을 두고 정치적 의도를 언급한 데 대해 “주민을 선거구 기준으로 나눠 갈등을 부추기고 있다”며 “주민 복지 사업을 정치 공방의 도구로 삼는 무책임한 행태”라고 지적했다.
의원들은 “북구청의 결정은 특정 정당의 이해관계가 아니라 주민 편익과 세금의 효율적 사용을 최우선으로 한 것”이라며 “지역 발전은 정쟁이 아니라 실질적 성과로 만들어야 한다”고 강조했다.
국민의힘 북구(을) 시·구의원 일동은 “민주당은 합리적 행정 결정을 왜곡하지 말고 갈라치기 정치를 중단하라”며 “지역 발전과 주민 복지를 위한 건설적 협력에 나설 것”을 촉구했다.
