【브레이크뉴스 울릉】전종환 기자=대한적십자사 경북지사(회장 김재왕)는 지난 8월 29일부터 31일까지 ‘2025년도 경북 RCY(Red Cross Youth) 울릉도·독도 나라사랑 캠프’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 캠프는 경북 RCY 단원들에게 올바른 역사관 확립과 국토수호 정신을 일깨우는 한편, 평화와 공존 등 인류 보편적 가치에 대해 고민하는 교육의 장으로 마련됐다. 경상북도교육청의 청소년단체 활동 지원사업의 일환으로 총 800만 원의 지원을 받아 운영됐다.
캠프에는 경북 RCY 단원 및 지도교사 등 50여 명이 참여했다. 참가자들은 현장 방문 전 ‘사이버독도학교 초급과정’을 수료해 독도에 대한 이해를 높였으며, 이후 독도박물관과 안용복기념관 등을 탐방하며 올바른 역사 기억의 중요성을 되새겼다.
또한 독도 수호 의지를 담은 글귀를 대형 현수막에 남기며 청소년으로서 평화롭고 책임 있게 역사와 영토를 지켜가겠다는 다짐을 공유했다.
안현경 단원(경주여자정보고)은 “직접 울릉도와 독도를 밟아보니 단순한 땅이 아니라 우리의 삶과 정체성이 이어지는 소중한 공간임을 느꼈다”며 “우리 역사를 지키고 기억하는 일이 곧 인류의 평화와 존엄을 위한 중요한 일임을 깨달았다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
김재왕 경북지사 회장은 “나라사랑은 특정 국가의 이익만을 강조하는 것이 아니라 인간의 존엄과 공동체의 평화를 지켜내는 보편적 가치와 연결된다”며 “이번 캠프가 RCY 단원들에게 올바른 역사관과 애국심은 물론, 인류 공동체를 향한 인도주의적 시각을 키우는 계기가 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.

Gyeongbuk RCY Holds Patriotic Camp on Ulleungdo and Dokdo
The Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross (Chairman Kim Jae-wang) announced that it held the "2025 Gyeongbuk RCY Ulleungdo and Dokdo Patriotic Camp" from August 29th to 31st.
The camp was designed to foster a correct historical perspective and a spirit of national defense among Gyeongbuk RCY members, while also providing an educational opportunity to reflect on universal human values such as peace and coexistence. The camp was funded by a total of 8 million won from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education's youth group activity support program.
Approximately 50 Gyeongbuk RCY members and instructors participated in the camp. Before their visit, participants completed the "Cyber Dokdo School Beginner Course" to deepen their understanding of Dokdo. Afterward, they toured the Dokdo Museum and the Ahn Yong-bok Memorial Hall, reflecting on the importance of maintaining a correct historical memory.
They also left messages expressing their determination to defend Dokdo on a large banner, sharing their pledge as youth to peacefully and responsibly safeguard history and territory.
Ahn Hyun-kyung (Gyeongju Girls' Information High School) said, "Having personally visited Ulleungdo and Dokdo, I realized that they are not simply land, but precious spaces where our lives and identities are connected. I realized that preserving and remembering our history is crucial for the peace and dignity of humanity."
Kim Jae-wang, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Governor's Office, said, "Love for one's country does not simply emphasize the interests of a particular nation, but is connected to universal values that uphold human dignity and community peace. I hope this camp will serve as an opportunity for RCY members to cultivate a proper view of history and patriotism, as well as a humanitarian perspective toward the human community."
