[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산과 경남 지역을 오가는 대중교통 이용 시 발생하던 광역환승요금이 오는 19일부터 전면 무료화된다.
이번 무료화는 부산시와 경남도(김해시, 양산시)가 공동 추진하는 ‘부울경 초광역경제동맹’의 실질적인 협력 성과로, 시민 교통비 절감과 지역 간 생활권 통합에 기여할 것으로 보인다.
그동안 부산·김해·양산을 오가는 시민들은 버스나 도시철도 등 교통수단을 환승할 때 추가 요금(일반 기준 500원)을 부담해야 했으나, 앞으로는 모든 교통카드 이용자에게 환승요금이 자동으로 면제된다. 별도의 신청 절차는 필요 없다.
부산시와 경남도는 이번 조치를 통해 연간 약 55억 원 규모의 시민 교통비 절감 효과가 기대된다고 밝혔다. 특히 출퇴근이나 통학 등으로 매일 광역 대중교통을 이용하는 시민은 월 1만 원 이상을 아낄 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
환승 무료화 적용 대상은 부산의 버스와 도시철도, 김해와 양산의 버스 및 경전철 이용 구간까지로, 해당 노선을 자유롭게 환승하더라도 추가 요금이 부과되지 않는다.
부산시 박형준 시장은 “이번 정책은 시민의 체감도를 높이는 교통복지 실현의 일환”이라며 “친환경 교통 활성화는 물론, 부산과 경남이 실질적인 하나의 생활권으로 작동할 수 있는 기반이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.
시는 앞으로도 경남도와의 지속적인 협력을 통해 광역 교통체계 개선을 이어갈 계획이다.

Starting September 19, transfer fees for intercity public transportation between Busan, Gimhae, and Yangsan will be completely eliminated. This measure, introduced as part of the "Mega-City Alliance" initiative between Busan and South Gyeongsang Province, aims to enhance regional connectivity and reduce the financial burden on daily commuters.
Until now, passengers transferring between buses and subways across the three cities were required to pay an additional fee—typically KRW 500 for general riders. Under the new policy, all transfer surcharges will be waived automatically for users of transportation cards, with no separate application required.
The fee exemption covers transfers across Busan’s buses and metro, Gimhae and Yangsan buses, and the Gimhae Light Rail. Riders will be able to switch between these services without incurring any additional cost.
City officials estimate that the new system will save citizens approximately KRW 5.5 billion per year in transportation costs. Daily commuters, including workers and students, are expected to save over KRW 10,000 per month on average.
Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “This policy reflects our commitment to improving public transport accessibility and achieving greener, more efficient urban mobility. Through close cooperation with Gimhae and Yangsan, we are taking a significant step toward integrating our metropolitan living zones.”
The local governments plan to continue expanding and enhancing the region's intercity transit network in support of broader metropolitan integration.
