포스코그룹은 2일(현지시간) 스위스 제네바에 위치한 SGS 본사에서 그룹 안전 관리 체계 혁신을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다. SGS는 건설 및 플랜트 진단 분야에 특화된 글로벌 최대 규모의 안전 컨설팅 기업으로, 전 세계 2,600여 개 지사를 운영하고 있다.
양사는 이번 협약을 통해 포스코그룹 건설 부문의 안전 시스템을 전면 점검하고, 글로벌 수준의 선진 프로세스를 수립하는 데 집중한다. 이달 내 포스코이앤씨를 대상으로 첫 안전 진단에 착수할 예정이며, 향후 포스코그룹이 추진 중인 안전 전문 회사 설립과 운영 과정에서도 상호 협력하기로 했다.
장인화 포스코그룹 회장은 “제도, 문화, 기술 등 모든 분야에서 과감히 혁신해 그룹의 안전 수준을 획기적으로 끌어올리고, 모든 근로자가 안심하고 일할 수 있는 일터를 만들겠다”고 강조했다.
장 회장은 이날 글로벌 안전 컨설팅사 dss+와도 만나 그룹 차원의 안전 솔루션 강화를 위한 협력 방안을 논의했다. dss+는 듀폰(DuPont)의 안전 노하우를 기반으로 설립된 전문기업이다. 지난달 14일에도 장 회장은 유럽을 방문해 SGS와 최신 안전 관리 기법과 유럽의 선진 안전 정책을 공유하는 등 안전 경영 강화에 직접 나선 바 있다.
한편 포스코그룹은 안전 관리 혁신의 일환으로 안전 전문 회사 설립을 추진하고 있다. 글로벌 우수기업 벤치마킹과 M&A 등을 검토하고 있으며, AI 기반 스마트 안전 솔루션을 접목한 전문기업으로 육성한다는 방침이다.

Chairman Chang also met with global safety consulting firm dss+ that day to discuss collaborative measures to strengthen group-wide safety solutions. dss+ is a specialized company founded based on DuPont's safety expertise. On the 14th of last month, Chairman Chang visited Europe and directly participated in strengthening safety management by sharing the latest safety management techniques and advanced European safety policies with SGS.
Meanwhile, POSCO Group is pursuing the establishment of a specialized safety company as part of its safety management innovation initiatives.
