(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천 서구가 지난 4일 경명공원 내 콜롬비아군 참전 기념비에서 74주년 추모식을 열고 참전용사들의 희생을 기렸다고 밝혔다.
서구에 따르면, 추모식에는 주한 콜롬비아 대사관, 육군 17사단, 인천보훈지청이 참여했으며 콜롬비아는 유엔 참전국 중 유일한 중남미 국가다.
지난 1951년 콜롬비아군은 전투병 5,100여 명을 파병하며 ‘절대로 후퇴하지 않는다’는 신조로 금성지구 전투, 김화400고지 전투 등에서 공을 세웠다.
이를 기리고자 1975년 가정동 콜롬비아 공원에 세워진 참전 기념비는 지난 2018년 인천2호선 지하철 공사로 인근 연희동 경명공원으로 옮겨졌고, 양국의 우호를 다지는 추모식도 매년 이어지고 있다.
