【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=영진전문대학교(총장 최재영) 인테리어디자인과가 수도권 1군 기업 맞춤형 취업 성과를 내며 전국 단위 실무 명문 학과로 자리매김하고 있다.
이 학과는 2·4년제 대학생 전시디자인 공모전에서 산업통상자원부 장관상을 8차례 수상했다.
최근 신설된 야간과정 실내장식과(2년제)는 성인 학습자들에게 실내건축 분야 재도전 기회를 제공해 주목받고 있다.
학과는 △인테리어디자인 △시공관리·목공 △전시디자인 세 전공 체제로 운영되며, ‘SMART 교육시스템’을 바탕으로 현장 실무형 인재를 양성하고 있다.
지속가능·모듈형·변화적응형·책임·실무특화 교육을 체계화해 산업 수요에 맞춘 교육 혁신을 실현하고 있다는 평가다.
실습실 또한 목공기술, 시공 디테일, 전시디자인 시스템 등 분야별로 세분화돼 있어 학생들이 곧바로 현장에 투입될 수 있는 역량을 기를 수 있도록 설계돼 있다.
취업 성과도 두드러진다. 올해 시공관리·목공 전공 졸업자 13명 중 11명이 수도권 1군 실내건축 업체에 입사하는 등 매년 80% 이상 취업률을 유지하고 있다.
주요 협약 기업으로는 ㈜국보디자인, ㈜삼원에스엔디, 두양건축㈜, ㈜다원앤컴퍼니 등이 있으며, 현업 전문가들이 특강과 멘토링을 맡아 학생들의 직무역량을 집중 육성한다.
국내 대학 가운데 전시디자인 관련 학과를 운영하는 곳은 단 3곳뿐이다. 영진전문대 인테리어디자인과는 이 분야 선도 학과로 자리매김하며, MICE 산업 확대와 함께 전시디자인전공을 특성화했다.
전시디자인전공은 24개 기업과 산학협력을 맺고 있으며, 2016년부터 2024년까지 대학생 전시디자인 공모전에서 8차례 산업부 장관상을 수상했다. 매년 서울에서 전시디자인 쇼케이스를 개최해 우수 업체와의 취업 연계를 강화하고 있으며, 취업률도 평균 85% 이상을 기록 중이다.
2024학년도부터는 성인 학습자를 위한 실내장식과(야간과정)를 개설해 직장인과 경력단절자의 재도전을 지원하고 있다. 홈퍼니싱 수요 증가에 대응한 맞춤형 과정으로 주경야독형 교육이 특징이다.
학과는 최근 일본 후쿠오카·사가현 일대에서 ‘2025 글로벌 현장학습’을 진행했다. 학생들은 세계적 건축물을 탐방하고 일본 교육기관과 교류하며 국제적 감각과 실무 역량을 키웠다.
권기태 학과장은 “우리 학과는 수도권 기업들에서도 졸업생 실력을 인정받고 있다”며 “실내건축 분야를 꿈꾸는 젊은이들에게 최고의 출발점이 될 것”이라고 말했다.

Only three universities in Korea offer exhibition design departments. Yeungjin College's Interior Design Department has established itself as a leader in this field, specializing in exhibition design alongside the expansion of the MICE industry.
The exhibition design major has established industry-academia partnerships with 24 companies and has won the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award eight times in the University Exhibition Design Competition from 2016 to 2024.
