보고회에서는 ▲군민주도 민관협의회 구성 ▲기후에너지특구 모델 개발 ▲육·해상풍력발전단지 건설 ▲영농형 RE100 시범단지 조성 ▲수소·탄소 등 분산에너지체계 기반 확립 ▲영덕기후에너지센터 설립 등 신재생에너지 분야 10대 핵심 전략이 발표됐다. 개발 사업 규모는 육상 200MW급 풍력발전단지, 1.5GW급 해상풍력발전단지, MW급 영농형 태양광 발전 시범단지 등으로, 총 사업비는 10조 원 이상으로 추산된다.
영덕군은 이번 프로젝트를 통해 정부 지원금 2조 원대 유입, 기업 유치와 일자리 창출, 지역 경제 활성화 등 생산유발 효과를 기대하고 있다. 또한 주민 참여형 ‘바람·햇빛연금’ 모델을 제도화해 신재생에너지 개발이익을 지역민과 공유하는 방안도 논의됐다.
김광열 영덕군수는 “군민이 잘 먹고 잘사는 것을 최우선 목표로 삼고, 주민과 무한 소통하며 체계적인 사업안을 도출할 것”이라며 “이번 그린에너지 프로젝트를 통해 산불 피해지역 재건과 지역 현안 해결, RE100 시대 글로벌 영덕의 새로운 50년, 100년 먹거리 창출에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 영덕군은 2000년대 초대형 산불 이후 전국 1호 상업 풍력발전소 건설, 청정에너지특구 지정, 경북 에너지산업융복합단지 지정 등 재생에너지 산업 중심지로 자리매김하며 환동해권 신재생에너지 산업의 핵심 지역으로 부상하고 있다.

Meanwhile, Yeongdeok County has established itself as a hub for the renewable energy industry, including the construction of the nation's first commercial wind power plant following the massive wildfires of the 2000s, the designation of a clean energy special zone, and the designation of the Gyeongbuk Energy Industry Convergence Complex, and is emerging as a key region for the new and renewable energy industry in the East Sea Rim.
