김현석 경기도의원, 과천 의용소방대 특별강연

경기도의회 김현석 의원(국민의힘, 과천시)이 지난 9월 16일 과천소방서에서 의용소방대원을 대상으로 가진 특별강연에서 지역 안전의 최전선에 선 의용소방대의 역할과 처우 개선 필요성을 강조했다.

김현석 의원은 △경기도의회 소개, △도의회 역할, △의용소방대 현황, △미래 발전 과제 등 네 가지 주제로 강연을 진행했다. 김 의원은 경기도 소방 관련 예산이 약 1조5,000억 원 규모이며, 이 중 약 100억 원이 의용소방대 활동 예산으로 배정돼 있다고 설명했다. 그러면서 “예산의 효율적 운영뿐 아니라 지속적인 확대도 필요하다”고 말했다.

김현석 의원은 또 의용소방대가 직면한 인력 부족, 열악한 사무공간과 장비, 낮은 활동수당 문제를 지적하며 “지역 안전을 책임지는 핵심 조직임에도 불구하고 현장 여건은 여전히 개선이 시급하다”고 강조했다.

이어 “도의회 차원에서 실질적인 처우 개선 방안을 마련하고, 도와 관계기관 협력을 통해 제도 개선을 적극 추진하겠다”며, “의용소방대 정년 상향과 같은 법령 개정에도 현장의 목소리가 반영돼야 한다”고 밝혔다.

강연을 마치며 김현석 의원은 “의용소방대는 단순한 보조 조직이 아니라 지역 사회 안전의 최전선에 있는 존재”라며 “안정적인 활동 여건 마련을 위해 도의회에서 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 과천 의용소방대는 남성·여성·산악대 등 총 76명으로 구성돼 있으며, 매년 260건 이상의 재난 대응과 봉사활동을 수행하며 지역 안전망의 중추적 역할을 하고 있다.

Gyeonggi Provincial Council Member Kim Hyun-seok (People Power Party, Gwacheon City) held a special lecture for volunteer firefighters at the Gwacheon Fire Station on September 16th.
