이 회장은 “중국 북경에서 열린 전승절 기념식에서 무시무시한 무기로 시위를 하는 걸 보고 ‘이거는 아니다’ 이런 생각을 했다.”면서 “그 보다는 독립운동이 가진 세계사적 가치를 여러 국제적인 전문가들과 연대를 해서 다시 확인하는 것이야말로, 그런 무시무시한 무기보다도 몇 백 배 더 가치있는 일”이라고 역설했다.
