[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 유기동물 보호와 반려문화 확산을 위한 ‘진주시 동물보호센터’ 건립사업을 본격화한다. 시는 30일 시청에서 설계공모 당선작 시상식과 설계보고회를 열고 본격적인 추진에 나섰다고 밝혔다.

진주시 동물보호센터는 유기동물 보호공간 확충과 시민·반려동물이 함께하는 복합문화시설로 판문동 산 167-1번지 일원에 연면적 4,990㎡, 건축면적 900㎡ 규모로 건립된다.
시는 실시설계와 착공에 들어가 오는 2027년 준공을 목표로 과밀 상태인 기존 집현면 보호소의 문제를 해소하고 입양·교육 기능을 강화해 재입양률을 높일 계획이다.
