파주시가 GTX-A 운정중앙역 이용객 급증에 따른 주차난 해소에 적극 나섰다.
시는 5일 운정중앙역 임시주차장1 내 유휴 공간을 활용해 약 60면 규모의 주차구획을 추가로 확보했다고 밝혔다.
GTX-A 개통 이후 운정중앙역 인근 임시주차장 1·2는 출퇴근 시간대마다 만차 상태가 이어지면서 주차구획 외 불법주차 차량으로 인한 교통 혼잡이 빈번하게 발생해 왔다.
시는 이번 주차면 확보와 함께 주차구획 외 불법주차를 예방하고 한시적으로 증가한 주차 수요에 대응하기 위해 각 임시주차장에 현장 안내 요원 1명씩을 배치했다.
한편, 근본적인 주차난 해소를 위한 GTX-A 운정중앙역 환승주차장은 2026년 10월 준공을 목표로 추진 중이다.
시는 현재 임시주차장 이용률을 지속적으로 분석하여 향후 환승주차장의 주차면수를 확대하고 적기에 준공이 이루어질 수 있도록 한국토지주택공사(LH) 파주사업본부와 긴밀히 협의하고 있다.
이성원 주차관리과장은 "이번 추가 주차면 확보는 시민 불편을 최소화하기 위한 단기 조치"라며 "향후 주차 수요를 반영해 임시주차장2 확장 등 중장기 대책도 함께 검토하겠다"고 말했다.
이어 "시민이 보다 쾌적하고 안전하게 GTX-A 운정중앙역 임시주차장을 이용할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
