【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대구 남구는 대구도서관 개관을 기념해 ‘미군부대 터, 100년의 기다림’ 사진전을 열고 있다.
이번 전시는 지난 5일부터 16일까지 대구도서관 4층에서 진행된다. 대구도서관은 옛 미군부대 캠프워커 H-805 헬기장 반환 부지에 들어섰다.
전시에서는 1921년 일본군 주둔 시절부터 미군부대가 자리했던 시기, 그리고 2021년 담장이 허물어져 주민 품으로 돌아오기까지 100년에 걸친 역사가 사진으로 기록됐다.
철옹성 같던 담장과 철조망, 활주로와 미군부대 부속 건물, 1950년대 나무전봇대 행렬 등 그 시절의 모습을 생생하게 담았다. 또 철거 이후 도서관과 시 3차 순환도로 동편 구간이 조성되는 변화상도 한눈에 볼 수 있도록 구성했다.
남구청은 이번 전시에 단순한 과거 회고를 넘어, 미군과 이어온 우정과 협력, 개발 제한과 소음 속에서도 지역 발전을 위해 묵묵히 기다려온 주민들의 인내를 함께 돌아보는 의미가 있다고 밝혔다.
조재구 남구청장은 “오랜 세월 불편을 감내하며 남구의 발전을 함께해 온 주민들께 감사드린다”며 “고통의 시간 끝에 문화와 지식의 공간으로 결실을 맺은 만큼, 이번 사진전이 남구의 과거와 현재, 미래를 이어주는 소중한 기록이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
