제12회 대한민국독도홍보대상 시상식이 12월17일 수요일 오후 6시 고양시 태영프라자 한양문고 데미안문화홀에서 열렸다.
이번 행사는 한 해 동안 독도수호 활동에 힘쓴 활동가와 단체들을 격려하기 위해 마련됐다.

독도홍보대상은 사단법인 영토지킴이독도사랑회가 주최하고 문화체육관광부와 경상북도, 경상북도교육청, 경기도교육청, 울릉군, 선순환경제연구소, 대한민국독도연대회의가 후원한다.
독도협약 기관인 아성다이소, 케이원에코텍, 태양기술개발, 세무법인 대길 등도 참여해 의미를 더한다.
심사는 독도홍보대상 심사위원회가 맡아 11월17일부터 25일까지 후보자를 접수해 심사를 진행하며 수상자는 11월28일 홈페이지와 개별 안내를 통해 발표될 예정이다.
시상식은 고양시 섹소폰 연주팀 올뮤직앙상블의 식전 공연으로 시작한다.
이어 팝피아니스트 사랑과평화 이권희의 피아노 연주와 함께 정광태 교수, 트롯가수 풍금, 신성은, 조우현 등이 무대에 올라 축하 공연을 펼치며 분위기를 돋울 계획이다.
심사위원장 정광태 교수는 올해가 독도의 날 125주년이라는 점을 강조했다.
그는 독도는 말이 아닌 실천으로 지켜야 한다며 2025년 한 해 동안 독도수호 활동에 공헌한 개인과 단체를 격려하는 뜻깊은 행사라고 말했으며 또한 정부가 더 많은 관심과 지원을 보여주길 바란다고 밝혔다.
2014년부터 독도홍보대상을 추진해 온 길종성 중앙회장은 일본의 독도 침탈 행위에는 관대하면서 독도사랑 실천 단체들에게는 인색한 현실을 지적했다.
