파주시의회 의원연구단체인 보행환경개선 연구단체는 지난 14일 파주시 안전하고 편리한 보행환경 개선을 위한 연구용역 최종보고회를 개최했다.

이번 보고회는 착수보고회 이후 진행된 연구 결과를 공유하고, 파주시 보행환경의 현황과 문제점을 토대로 개선 방향과 정책 추진 전략을 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.
용역사는 보도 단절, 협소한 보도, 불법주정차, 휴식공간 부족 등 보행 기본권과 직결되는 핵심 문제들을 심층 분석했다.
또 국내외 우수사례를 참고해 지역 특성에 맞는 보행환경 개선 방안을 제시하며 실질적인 적용 가능성을 설명했다.
이어 연구단체 의원들과 관계부서는 지역별 맞춤형 개선 방향을 두고 의견을 나누고 단계별 실천 로드맵과 연계한 구체적 추진 전략을 제안했다.
박은주 대표의원은 이번 연구결과가 시민의 보행권 향상과 안전하고 편리한 도시 환경 조성을 위한 정책 기반이 될 것이라고 강조했으며 또 단계별 실천 로드맵을 바탕으로 보행환경 개선 사업을 적극 추진해 시민들이 걷고 싶은 도시를 만드는 데 힘쓰겠다고 밝혔다.
